We’re looking for a hands-on Visual Media Creator who can shoot, plan, and edit content that actually works on social.
Not someone who just presses record.
Someone who can come up with ideas, plan what needs to be shot, capture it, and turn it into strong final content.
At Mimik, content is at the centre of everything we do. We work closely with our clients – on-site, in real environments – capturing content that feels natural, relevant, and aligned to each brand.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for planning, capturing, and creating visual content across multiple clients, from idea stage all the way through to final delivery.
What you’ll actually be doing
Content planning & ideas
- Coming up with content ideas for different brands
- Planning shot lists ahead of shoots
- Understanding what needs to be captured and why
Content creation (photo & video)
- Shooting high-quality photo and video content for social media
- Capturing both planned and in-the-moment content
- Working across reels, stories, campaigns, and brand shoots
Editing
- Editing video content for social (Reels, TikTok-style, short-form)
- Basic photo editing and retouching
- Delivering content in the correct formats for different platforms
Shoot execution
- Attending shoots, client visits, and events
- Working with the team to capture what’s needed
- Being proactive on-site — spotting moments and creating content
Collaboration
- Working closely with the social team to align content with strategy
- Taking briefs and turning them into strong visual output
- Contributing ideas and improving how we shoot over time
What we’re looking for
- 2–4+ years experience in photography/videography/content creation
- Strong video editing skills (this is key)
- Good understanding of social-first content
- Ability to plan shoots and think ahead
- Confident shooting both photo and video
- Reliable, organised, and able to manage deadlines
- Comfortable working in different environments (not just behind a desk)

Tools & Equipment
- Access to Canon R6 Mark II cameras
- DJI gimbal for video work
- Full access to editing software (Adobe Suite or equivalent)
- Company laptop provided
Bonus if you
- Have experience shooting hospitality / lifestyle content
- Can direct people on camera (light guidance, not full production)
- Understand basic content performance (what works and why)
How we work
- Hybrid setup:
2 days in-office (Somerset West)
1 day in Cape Town (client shoots)
2 days remote (editing/admin)
- First month: Full-time in-office to get into the flow
- Also part of the role:
- Attending 2–4 evening events per month in Cape Town
- Being available for shoots during the week as needed

- Salary: R16,000 – R20,000 (depending on experience)
